Customs officials seize gold worth $84,629 from passenger’s rectum in southern India

Gold worth 70 lakhs (USD 84,629.65), concealed from within a passenger’s rectum in southern India’s Tamil Nadu, was seized by the customs department.

The incident took place at the Trichy airport in the Tiruchirapalli district on April 26.

The footage shows the gold in paste form after being nobly extracted from the passenger. Based on intelligence, the AIU personnel at Trichy Airport reportedly seized 977 grams of 24K gold worth Rs 70.58 lakh (USD 84,629.65) from three packages containing 1,081 grams of paste-like material that the passenger had hidden in his rectum.

According to reports, the passenger was on an Air India Express flight from Dubai to Trichy. The gold was concealed in three packets consisting of 1,081 grams of paste-like material in the rectum of the passenger. The traveler has been taken into custody, and an inquiry is now underway.

It is important to note that a significant quantity of gold was recently found at the airport in Bhubaneswar on April 17 and 19. The Income Tax Department seized 3.8 kg of gold. According to sources, this gold is valued at approximately 2.5 crore rupees (USD 299,749.50).
