Stray dog steals spotlight during exercise with NDRF personnel, performing asanas in perfect sync before International Yoga Day

As International Yoga Day approaches, fitness lovers are already preparing their mats. In a heartwarming moment, a stray dog was seen participating in a special yoga session, performing asanas alongside disaster response personnel with surprising ease.

The incident occurred at 13th Battalion campus in Udhampur district, in Jammu and Kashmir on June 20.

Visuals show a stray dog took part in a special yoga session conducted with National Disaster Response Force, impressively mimicking yoga poses. The animal was seen stretching and moving in sync with the group, performing asanas remarkably well alongside the uniformed participants.

According to reports, the stray dog, reportedly trained for nearly two years by personnel at the disaster response battalion, became the unexpected star of a yoga event. As soon as it noticed officers laying down mats and performing asanas, it casually walked in and joined the session. Footage from the event showed the dog captivating attention as it mimicked several yoga poses alongside 55 participating personnel.

In the viral video, the dog was seen attempting various postures, including downward stretches and vajrasana, matching the movements of the officers with notable flexibility.
Media reports quoted team members as saying, “If a stray dog can embrace yoga, why can’t humans make it part of their daily routine?”
Inspector Munshi Ram, who led the session, spoke about the dog’s involvement. He described the animal as a “beloved companion” who had been with the team for two years.
“Today, I conducted yoga with 55 team members and one loyal dog. His participation shows that yoga truly has no limits, it’s for everyone, even animals,” said the inspector.
He further urged people to see yoga not just as a one-day activity on June 21 but as a lifelong habit that promotes complete well-being.
