Obscene acts from moving van target woman on two-wheeler, three arrested as police act swiftly

While riding her two-wheeler, a 30-year-old woman was harassed by youths leaning out of a speeding Eco van, making obscene gestures. Acting swiftly, police arrested three individuals involved and also confiscated the vehicle used in the incident.
The incident took place on the Mangalore-Narsana National Highway, in Uttarakhand, on June 15.
Visuals show a woman was riding her two-wheeler when a fast-moving Eco van passed close to her. Inside, partially clothed youths leaned out of the windows, making vulgar gestures. Displaying presence of mind and courage, the woman captured the entire incident on her phone.
According to reports, the woman firmly stated that such vulgar behavior would not be accepted in Devbhoomi and demanded immediate arrest of the offenders. The Eco van’s registration number (UP15 EH 2344), clearly visible in the footage, was traced back to Meerut.
Once the video began circulating widely on social media, senior officers in Meerut,including the ADG, DIG, and SSP responded swiftly. Based on the vehicle registration, the address was located in the Pallavpuram locality. Acting on the SSP’s directives, the Pallavpuram police station team detained the vehicle owner, Guddan, along with two other suspects. Two others involved in the case fled. Legal action has been initiated against all five, and an FIR has also been filed at Mangalore police station in Uttarakhand.
SP City Ayush Vikram of Meerut confirmed that the viral video shows youths inside a van harassing a woman. Upon reviewing the video, a case was officially registered at Pallavpuram station. Three individuals have been taken into custody, while two others remain on the run but are expected to be arrested soon. The van used during the incident has been impounded and fined. The event is said to have occurred on NH-58, the Haridwar Expressway, with the van traveling from Haridwar toward Meerut. As a result, the case is expected to be transferred to the appropriate jurisdiction.
