Major infiltration attempt foiled on LoC in Rajouri as Indian army captures Pakistani guide assisting militants

Army officials apprehended a Pakistani national attempting to illegally cross into India. Following the capture of this key guide on Sunday, the Army announced that a major infiltration attempt by heavily armed terrorists from the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district’s Gambhir area was successfully thwarted by vigilant troops.
According to the Army, swift and decisive action disrupted the infiltration plan, resulting in the arrest of the guide and likely causing injuries to the terrorists involved. The captured individual, Mohammad Arib Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yousuf from Detote village in Pakistan-administered Kashmir’s Kotli district, was taken into custody during the operation.
Acting on specific intelligence about a new attempt to infiltrate militants, the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) launched a coordinated counter-infiltration mission. Troops patrolling the rugged terrain of Gambhir noticed suspicious movement by four to five heavily armed individuals trying to use dense forest cover to cross over undetected.
During the ensuing engagement, the guide was captured, while the remaining militants, believed to be JeM operatives, suffered injuries and retreated back across the LoC under cover of thick foliage and adverse weather. A comprehensive search of the area led to the recovery of sensitive items including a mobile phone and Pakistani currency.
Initial interrogation revealed that the guide hailed from PoK near the LoC and was operating under instructions from Pakistan Army officers stationed at forward posts. He also disclosed that the infiltrators were carrying substantial quantities of weapons, ammunition, and other materials indicating hostile intent.
Currently, the guide is being thoroughly questioned by a joint interrogation team, yielding vital intelligence that will enhance future counter-infiltration operations, officials stated.
