House help confesses to double murder in Delhi, claims rage took over following scolding

On Wednesday night, a brutal double murder shook Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar when a woman and her teenage son were found dead in their apartment. The prime suspect, their house help, was later apprehended while attempting to flee the city.
The victims, 42-year-old Ruchika and her 14-year-old son Krish, were discovered with deep throat injuries. The incident was reported around 9:43 PM after Ruchika’s husband, Kuldeep, alerted authorities upon finding their home locked and blood stains near the entrance.
The primary accused, 24-year-old Mukesh, originally from Hajipur in Bihar, was employed as a domestic helper and driver. He had also been working at the family’s garment shop in Lajpat Nagar. Following the murders, he disappeared from the scene, triggering an intense manhunt.
His arrest came within hours of the crime. Mukesh was captured by Uttar Pradesh authorities at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction while trying to escape via train. During preliminary questioning, he admitted to killing both victims. Mukesh confessed that a heated altercation with Ruchika moments before the attack led him to commit the murders in what he described as a “fit of rage.”
Ruchika was found lying in her bedroom in a pool of blood, while Krish was discovered in the bathroom with similar wounds and blood splattered around. The initial investigation confirmed that a sharp-edged weapon was used in the crime. Authorities suspect that both victims were attacked suddenly and without warning.
According to the police, the accused’s motive stemmed from anger and resentment. Mukesh reportedly told investigators, “She scolded me harshly, and I lost control,” claiming the verbal altercation escalated his emotions to the point of violence.
The tragic event has left the community in shock, particularly given the young age of the child and the apparent lack of any premeditated planning. The police are continuing their investigation to determine whether any additional triggers or contributing factors were involved.
As the investigation progresses, authorities are likely to press serious charges against Mukesh, while the grieving family seeks justice for the devastating loss of a wife and son.
