Flight operations resume as IndiGo, Air India reopen Gulf-Europe routes suspended during Iran-Israel conflict

Flight services operated by IndiGo Airlines and Air India are returning to normal as operations to, from, and through Gulf countries have resumed and are proceeding on schedule. Travel routes connecting Europe, which were earlier disrupted amid days of tension between Iran and Israel, are also being restored.
This update follows Israel’s temporary reopening of its airspace on Sunday, with broader flight operations resuming Monday. The decision was made in response to mounting travel disruptions across the Middle East triggered by the U.S. military’s recent action against Iran, leaving thousands of travellers stranded.
IndiGo, in its travel advisory, confirmed that most of its scheduled services through Gulf regions are now operating normally. However, it cautioned that continued limitations over Iranian airspace could necessitate altered flight paths, possibly leading to extended journey durations. Travellers have been advised to remain alert to updates regarding their specific flights.
“We remain committed to assisting you throughout your travel and ensuring a seamless experience. Thank you for your patience and continued trust in us,” IndiGo stated in its advisory.
Air India has also commenced a staggered return of its operations to the region. According to a spokesperson, as portions of Middle Eastern airspace reopen, the airline will gradually restore flights starting immediately, with full-scale operations to and from the Middle East anticipated by June 25.
Services connecting to Europe, which had previously been suspended, are resuming today. Additionally, Air India aims to recommence flights servicing the East Coast of the United States and Canada as soon as conditions allow.
While some flights may still be delayed or cancelled due to indirect consequences such as detours and longer flying hours, both airlines have reaffirmed their dedication to minimizing disruptions and maintaining their schedules.
Air India assured passengers that flights will continue to avoid any regions deemed unsafe, with real-time communication being maintained to keep passengers informed about ongoing developments or potential adjustments.
